EAT YOUR FRUIT, DON”T DRINK IT!

As most of you know, within the Goals in Motion nutritional guidelines, we always recommend eating your fruit versus drinking fruit juices. Below is why….

The sugars in whole, fresh fruit come along with high amounts of “slow to digest” and “very good for you” fiber. The fiber helps the sugars to be gradually released into the bloodstream (which is a good thing!) and the fiber also provides potent antioxidants.

On the other hand, when you consume sugar in the form of liquid it enters your bloodstream with no hesitation at all (this is not a good thing!) Also, in most cases, a serving of fruit juice provides a larger amount of sugar and calories than a serving of fresh fruit. Ex: One cup of orange juice typically contains the sugar from 3 or 4 oranges.

So…go out and eat a piece of fresh fruit (with a protein, of course 🙂 ) and get rid of the juices in your house!!
